Aldeia da Cuada

A hamlet in the parish of Fajã Grande, on Flores, which the owners date to 1676; in the first quarter of the nineteenth century it held 122 people across twenty modest houses. Its inhabitants emigrated in the 1960s, mainly to America, leaving the village abandoned. Teotónia and Carlos Silva rebuilt it, keeping the original construction lines and the stone houses while adapting them to present-day use. It now runs as rural tourism across sixteen houses.
